GameFly Keep It Option
So what do you do when you rent a video game from Gamefly and then decide that you absolutely have to own it? One of the great features of GameFly is their Keep It program. It is really quite simple. When you find a video game that you want to own, you simply log in to your GameFly account and visit your Game Q. There you will fidn the video game or games you are currently renting along with a Keep It price. The Keep It price is similar to what you would find for a used game, though sometimes it can be significantly lower. Locate the game you are currently renting that you want to keep and click the "Keep It" button right next to the game. GameFly will then send you the original box for the video game as well as the game manual. So you will have a complete used game at a great price. Plus, you will already know the condition of the game since you will have already rented it. So you do not have to worry about buying a used game online, only to find that it is scratched or has a problem. How can you beat that?

Video Game Renting Saves Money?
Video game sales have continued to grow at a rapid pace over the past number of years. With the latest generation of consoles including the XBOX360, the Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii, added to the last generation of consoles that are still active, plus the handheld gaming devices, there is a large percentage of the population that owns one or more gaming devices. So as more and more people become gaming console owners and prices for individual games rise, it would seem likely that the desire to find a way to save money on playing video games would be increasing. People are always willing to pay for entertainment, even during difficult economic times. However people are also always looking for ways to save money and most folks simply love a good deal. So how can people keep playing video games, yet start saving money? The best answer is video game rentals.
It is pretty easy to figure out how much you are currently spending on video games and then find out if you can save money by getting a video game rental contract. First, take a look at how many games you purchased over the last year. Add up all of the costs of the games, including taxes, transportation, shipping costs, or any other costs involved in buying the games. Then subtract out any money you received by trading in the games, or maybe selling them on your own. Now you should have a fair estimate of your annual cost of buying video games. When I did this, I found out that I had spent approximately $700 on games over the past year!
Now take a look at some options for video game rentals. The company I chose and recommend is Gamefly. They have two different game rental options to begin with. The first is a one game at a time option for $15.95 a month. The second is a two game at a time option for $22.95 a month. I ended up choosing the two game rental option, but many people will be perfectly happy with the single game option. So now all you have to do is add up the annual costs for rental and subtract them from the costs of buying video games. For me the savings were over $400 a year! Totally worth it. I believe that most gamers will find that they will save money renting video games vs buying video games. All it takes is buying three or four games per year to save money by renting video games. Plus with video game rentals, you can try an unlimited number of games, so most people will find themselves playing more and spending less. You cannot beat that!
So if you are looking to save money on video games, take a close look at video game rentals. You can even give Gamefly a try with a free 10 day trial!

My prayers have been answered!!…This is definitely the greatest thing to happen to video gaming since the XBox. I really love the 'Keep It' option. Now not only can I rent games without leaving the house, but I can keep 'em instead of sending them back and running out to the store to buy it.
Thanks so much for a great service!

Up here in rural Alaska, indoor entertainment is vital, and when the thick orange envelope arrives, all is well with the world. You provide an excellent service, and the tone in which your business is conducted is both professional and friendly. Consequently, I feel like I have a real relationship with your company and its excellent staff, which makes me one very loyal customer...and fan!

I am writing to say thank you. Your rental service is top notch. I was fortunate to have seen your commercial on G4, I became a member the same day. I love video games, but I hate having to buying them with the chance that it may not be at the store. Just like DVD's, you have to store them somewhere, I don't like them just sitting around my apartment taking up space. That makes sense I hope, and now I sound like an OCD freak. I feel as if I have my own private library of games, that I have total, anytime access to. Anyway, I have taken up enough of your time with my incessant babbling. Once again thank you for your services, it is definitely a welcome addition into my life.
Sincerely,
Aaron

This is a great, great thing! Before joining GameFly I researched every online rental place out there, and I went with Gamefly because of your superior title selection, that games are almost always available to ship immediately (even brand new titles that have to be in high demand), and the ease of use and functionality of your website. The Q is well designed and really easy to use, and the best feature is the availability indicator that allows me to know if a title is available to ship immediately.
Thanks for the great job guys. And while having the instructions isn't necessarily a requirement to play console games, adding them to your website reinforces just how dedicated you are to keeping your service the best one out there.
A happy customer,

The Gamefly Story
"In early 2002, Sean Spector and Jung Suh started to share their frustration with not being able to rent video games. Like many gamers, Sean and Jung bought 5-10 console games each year but wanted to play 15-20 more. They tried to rent at both the national video rental chains and local stores, but could find neither the popular new releases nor the classic games they enjoy playing from time to time. When they did manage to find a game they wanted, they realized that weekly rental was too short and late fees made it too expensive. This led them to search online, where they could not find anyone serving the video game rental market.
In mid 2002, Sean and Jung partnered with Founding CEO Toby Lenk to start GameFly, based on the following beliefs:
- Gamers want easy access to all the games, both new releases and classic library titles.
- Gamers want to play great games for a long time (and weak games for a short time) at the lowest cost possible. They also want to avoid spending their hard-earned money on bad games.
- Gamers would rather ship from and receive at their homes than make another trip to a retail store.
- Gamers value the ability to review high-quality game reviews and ratings close to the point of rental or purchase.
- Gamers want to choose from an assortment of extremely high-quality used games at significant discounts off retail prices.
At this point, subscription video game rental is a very small fraction of the $10 billion spent on video games annually in the USA. As the market leader, our goal is to drive overall market growth by demonstrating the value of a membership model to consumers. To accomplish this objective, we purchase nearly every console video game released domestically. We carry over 5,500 titles, significantly more than traditional retailers who have a limited amount of shelf space. Our two-game plan is priced so that a consumer pays 38 cents per game per day. On top of that, you can try any game before you buy it, and avoid costly mistakes. Our customer support team is here to provide excellent service in order to make the experience complete. A recent survey indicated that 95% of our members would recommend GameFly to a friend!
If you are a GameFly member already, thank you. If not, we encourage you to try GameFly and, like thousands of other gamers, experience the value of our service firsthand."

Gamefly Video Game Rental Experience
I spent HOW MUCH buying video games?
For many years I have purchased most of my video games either new or used at my local game store. I usually traded in games once I was done with them, and only kept the ones I planned on playing again. For the most part I thought I was getting a pretty good deal by buying used when possible and trading my games in. Yet a few months back I decided to go back and see how much I had spent on games. I just looked at the past year and went through all of my credit card charges and receipts. I was shocked to realize that I had spent almost $700 in video games in one year. That includes the trades!
Now I am more than happy to spend money on video games. They are an entertainment form that I enjoy and I feel like you can get a lot of value out of video games when compared to other forms of entertainment. Heck, going to a movie will run you $10 and that is only for a couple hours of entertainment! Games provide many hours of enjoyment and I believe they are a good value even when buying new.
The search for cheaper video games
So having totaled up my annual costs for video games in a year, I decided to see if there were some other options out there to bring down the costs further. I looked at buying and selling on eBay, but there are risks involved and a lot of work as well. Scratch that. I then stumbled on the idea of renting video games. Looking at a couple of options, I realized that I may have found the best possible way to save money and play as many games as I wanted!
There are only a few options online for renting video games, so I asked around a bit to see if any of my friends were renting. I had a buddy who used Gamefly and he was very happy with them overall, so decided to give GameFly a try. I started with the free 10 day Gamefly trial.
The Gamefly video game rental experience
After filling out my basic details, I started searching the Gamefly website for games I wanted to play. I had a list built up inside of my head already and was able to find about a dozen games I wanted to play right away. I added them to my game queue and sorted them in the order I wanted them.
The very next day I received an e-mail from Gamefly letting me know that the first two games I had in my queue were shipping. One day later I found two envelopes from Gamefly in my mailbox. 48 hours from signup and I was ready to play!
Both games arrived in good shape and were in good condition. There were no manuals with the games, but Gamefly has some basic control information on their site. You can also locate game manuals pretty easily online, so this was not much of a problem. One of the games I rented was a game I wanted to try for a while, but it was not rated well and I was not sure I would like it. Sure enough, the game sucked and I decided to send it back. Perfect opportunity to see how quickly the game would get turned around!
I put the game back in the prepaid envelope and dropped it in the mail. Two days later I received an e-mail stating that they had received the game and that same day I received an e-mail informing me that my next game rental in the queue was shipping. The next day I had the replacement game in my mailbox! Now I am in California and there is a hub close by, so not everyone will see the same speed of delivery. Yet from what I have heard, most people get games pretty quickly.
So what does it cost to rent video games from Gamefly? First of all they offer the free 10 day trial on the two disc plan, or you can get a 40% discount on your first month for either the one game or the two game rental plan. The one game plan starts at $8.95 for the first month and is $15.95 after that. The two game plan starts at $12.95 (if you do no take the free 10 day offer) for the first month and is $22.95 after that. So I am looking at $23 a month to be able to rent two video games at a time with unlimited game rentals.
What was I spending before per month when I was buying games? Almost $60 a month! So I am looking to save several hundred dollars a year by renting video games through Gamefly. Plus, I am playing more games now than before and I have the chance to try some games that I otherwise might not have tried. It is great to try a game you are not sure you will like, because if you hate it you just drop it back in the mail. No regrets!
I have been using Gamefly for the past three months and have received about a dozen games from them. I have had zero problems so far and have been very happy with the service. It is going to save me LOTS of money and will allow me to experience even more games than before. If I decide I want to keep a game, I can simply let Gamefly know I want it and they send me the case and manual and give me a great used price on the game. It is that easy!
So I would absolutely recommend that gamers out there take a look at renting video games from Gamefly. Go ahead, try the free 10 day Gamefly video game rental trial today!
